TROCA-SE POR ARTE (exposição)

título: “Isto é arte!”, Porto 2011

Num espaço privilegiado para captar as reacções do público transeunte, a montra da Novalma na Rua de Sta. Catarina no Porto, transformo-me em artista por 3 dias e apresento “Isto é arte!” (Duchamp, NY 1917). O que importa aqui é subverter, criar estranheza no observador e apresentar pregos como arte. Objectos retirados do mundo das coisas insignificantes e transformados em obra de arte de valor acrescentado à medida que são observados e encarados como tal.

A condição de objecto de arte é um atributo que em determinado contexto cultural, social ou político determinadas pessoas atribuem a esse objecto. Estes pregos podem ou não ser arte, o que interessa é provocar uma reacção crítica no observador e leva-lo a agir neste processo criativo, questionando o valor da peça, do artista e eventualmente da arte contemporânea.

In a privileged space to catch the reactions of the public passing by, the window display of Novalma store at Sta. Catarina street (Porto), I transformed myself into an artist per 3 days and present “This is art!” (Duchamp, NY 1917). What matters in this work is to subverter, to create queerness in the observer and to present nails as art. Objects removed of the world of the insignificant things and transformed into a work of art, value added as time goes by and they are observed and faced as such. 

The condition of an art object is an attribute determined by an cultural, social and political context defined by certain people. These nails maybe our maybe not art, but what is relevant is to provoke a critical reaction in the observer and lead him to act in this creative process, questioning the value of an art piece, of the artist and of contemporary art in itself.
